Audi vs VW ??
Last spring I was promised an invitation to view the new A8 but never got the invitation. Later, I saw the car at the dealer but was not a allowed a test drive as they wanted to keep it new.
This week I received an invitation to view and test the Phaeton!
Did I read somewhere that Audi was not targeting Audi owners with the Pheaton? Talk about cannibalism! Or, maybe Audi thinks I'm not worthy of the new A8, even though I owned one before the A6?

I got the same invitation...
...although I'm not sure if it was prompted because I'm an Audi owner or an up-to-very-recently VW (GTI) owner. At any rate, I did the on-line reply thing over a month ago but haven't heard anything since. Now I'm wondering if I'll ever get to take the "extended test drive".

There are probably many ways. I got an invitation in the mail.
How I got on the mailing list is anyone's guess. It was most likely a result of being in a VW or Audi owners data base.

I was not on any list, but test drove the A8L in July by walking into a dealership and asking.
I was impressed with the car, but thought it was underpowered. I recently got an unsolicited CD on the A8L, but have not looked at it yet. It would be my first choice among the S class, or 7 Series, if I were in the market for a sedan. I have not driven the Phaeton 4.2. Will wait for the RS8 and am on the list. In the meantime, my A6 4.2 is just fine.
