Default Battery Question

My 2000 4.2 A6Q has 56K on it now &
I'm interested as to just how many
months/miles others get before
the original battery croaks.
Most American brand cars get 3 to 4 years &
less than 60K miles before the purchase is required.
Also, what brand replacement battery
are you recommending ?
Cold weather isn't a problem as I live in north Florida.

Default Re: Battery Question

You may find that it could give 6 to 8 years. It can depend quite a lot on the way you use electrical items.

The only downside to current battery design is that they just seem to die almost instantly. There is no long period of poor starting and dim lights, they just stop producing any power at all and you are stranded.

But it seems a shame and waste to replace a battery that may go on to give another three years use.

I tend to keep a spare battery in the garage, fully charged just is case....but use it for lead lights and things that need a portable 12v supply.

Default Climate and age have more affect than miles..

Mine lasted about 4yrs from manufacture date. I live in So Cal so the climate is not much of a factor. Mine died suddenly, took it to the Auto-Spa, when they finished with the massage the battery was dead.
