Re: Realistic MPG for A6 with 4.2L. On the highway today, I set the trip computer for the ride
from my weekend place to my home in NYC. I averaged 77 MPH, including 5 toll stops. The car achieved 18 MPG. This included a few full throttles and one quick trip to 115MPH (I couldn't help myself when the road opened up).

Pablo1...try this some time!
On a strictly highway trip one time when the car was still very low mileage I had topped off the tank and reset the trip computer/mpg calculator after I was on the interstate and at cruise speed (75 mph). After about 125 miles my average mpg was calculated at 25.4. Average for the that entire tank of fuel was 21 and some change.
The car is so much fun to drive that it's very easy to dip into the throttle as I have on numerous occasions too.
