Default Car in for recall..here is the rental they gave me..what a peice of crap

The A6 is in the shop for bumper replacement, I will post pictures as soon as the car returns. AOA gave me this Cadillac as a rental
I drove the same car, brand new, in 1995. I am so surprised that not much has changed in 9 years. Apart from the boaty feeling and the top rev weak engine, the built quality is no where near even a regular Toyota. If Detroit wants to compete with the imports they will have to do much better.
Part of me thinks they dont want to compete with the import Luxury sector, they are fine selling it to a certain group of people.
So many of my fellow workers think driving a German car is one unpatriotic and second they think of me as some higher class snob. You do have to consider the fact that I live in North Carolina and work with a lot of ex-defence forces guys.
I also noticed more people starring at my rental car than the Audi, unless they were wondering what a middle eastern looking guy doing in a Cadillac..
Anyway, IMHO the car is junk, its probablu not a bad deal if you buy it used, as they also don't have any resale.

Default As an ex-employee of GM, I would have to agree with you. (more)

GM markets their vehicles to a certain, select group of individuals. Mainly die-hard fanatics of domestic brands, and/or previous GM customers. They're having a hard time trying to lure the younger crowd as well as their import-oriented market. Build quality has gone up since the '95 model year but it still is nowhere near as good as it's Japanese or German competitors.

Default That's ridiculous! My dealer told me they had to give out Audis as loaners...

When I went in for my LQ recall, they gave me an '03 A4, stating that for all recall work, the policy was to give out Audis as loaners, and that came from AoA. Yes, they had Camrys and Corollas as loaners as well, but I think that was for people who had "regular" work performed on their cars.

Default Same brand loaners are supposed to be given to A8 and RS6 owners.

If they run out, they can offer high end rentals ( Caddy ).
