Car wont start
Ok, so i just got back in town this morning to find my '99 A6 quattro will not crank..
I haven't driven it since Friday, and so i thought maybe the battery was dead or low, but i got a jump, drove it around for about 30min, then parked it.. now its doing the same thing.. just kinda sits there making an ugly noise when i try to start it up.
It wont even give the 'ol "cough, cough, cant do it" starting sound..making a very ugly whirring type noise. Does anyone have a clue what this could be? Im assuming the starter, but maybe something worse(please, no lol)..
I was thinking about getting a jump and driving it to the shop, but should i get it towed instead?

Sounds like classic battery that won't hold a charge - alternator working so it'll run after a jump.
How old is the battery? If more than 3.5 years and you let it sit often without being driven, then likely it's simply the battery.

Re: Most likely a battery.
oh, so even though the exterior and interior lights come on, it could still be my battery? The lights are alot dimmer than usual though

Absolutely. The dim comment pretty much seals the deal.
Lights draw milli-amps. The starter draws, oh, 30 amps. If the lights are visibly dim, that says just how dead the battery is.
