cbs new york story on xenons
I've never had any problems with glare from HIDs. The only time I feel blinded are from improperly installed headlights, especially HID wannabe lights on Rice mobiles.
How badly do you think our audis offend other drivers?<ul><li><a href="http://cbsnewyork.com/topstories/local_story_335141422.html">http://cbsnewyork.com/topstories/local_story_335141422.html</a</li></ul>

I don't believe they bother any significant percentage of oncoming drivers, at all
This article, and others I have read, allude to a key point. For many, the blue light is something new: they see it coming down the road, stare right into it, and then feel they have been blinded by the glare. Drivers will get used them safely, just as they have in other parts of the world. This is just another case of American media mass hysteria-invent an issue, and boost your ratings....

I believe Audi's lights are better designed than most. Note the hard "cutoff" line on the -->
driver's side beam, which is there to minimize the potential of blinding other drivers. Notice how it "steps-up" in the middle, to provide more light in the middle of the pattern, away from other drivers. When I first got my Audi (4 yrs ago next week) I'd get flashed every now and then (maybe every 3-4 nights) but it is VERY rare now to get flashed, as people have become accustomed to the color/look of the Audi's properly designed xenons.

Good fogs work great in fog - but if it isn't foggy, they should be off!! Most of the "fog -->
lights" out there today are indeed crap. They are bright for the sake of being bright - and the inconsiderate drivers turn them on whenever the headlights are on, blinding oncoming drivers.

I'm wiht you, 4000L Xenons are fine, I even wonder if mine are working, as they are barely blue....
but there are some cars out there both stock and aftermarket pushing 5000 and 6000K. That can be bright if aimed improperly.
And, the blue PIAA or other brand imitations seem to substitute light wavelenght with output, making them even harder to look at.
