Default The base is a Graco Smart Fit Plus.

The 2nd base was purchased about 8 months ago. The chair with original base (same), was bought about 2.5 years ago.

Default Belt clip is non-functional,

in your photo. Did you activate the belt's built-in retractor lock to secure the base? The way your clip is mounted on the belts, it won't work. (Or are you just storing it there?)

Default Re: Belt clip is non-functional,

Yes, I activate the belt built-in retractor.

Please elaborate on why it won't work correctly. I obviously want this set correctly!

Thanks,
Dave

Default Same situation. That is why I moved from A4 to A6.

Got one forward facing and one reward facing and there is tonnes of room, unless you like driving FULLY EXTENDED back.

I have my smallest in the middle but that is by choice as my wife often sits in the back to accompany them.

Default Both belts must pass through clip parallel and even,

for it to work effectively. Notice in your photo how the belts are kind of random in their positioning; they both need to go into and out of the clip, on both sides. This is the only way to create the friction and tension that is required.

So a better location for the clip is about 6 inches to the right, in the middle of the base where the belts run parallel together.

I'll get a photo from my car and post back here in about a day.

Oh, I didn't realize the clip could be in the middle like that. I assumed it had to be at the point where the belts went their seperate ways. I noticed that non-flat connection after the photo.

Out to the car to fix this now.

Thanks, and please post your pic. I'm interested.
