Chip upgrade?
Hey guys I'm new to the board and I just purchased a 2000 A6 2.7T quattro and was wondering if anyone has udated the computer for use with 93 octane and if so which company is the best to use and is the performance really that noticable to be worth the $500+ cost?
Thanks
Thanks

Welcome to the board. For the 2.7t it's the best money you'll ever spend, but....
there are issues you should be aware of. Check out the link below and go to the "Chips and turbo" section and read up!

I'll do my research I don't plan on racing but would like to have the added power as my other car is a 91 911 Turbo C2 Porsche and I'm use to a lot of performance. Great board and I look forward to be part of it also anyone from the St. Louis area let me know.

Re: Chip upgrade?
I did the apr 93 and it is night and day. Once you chip it, it takes about a week for the permagrin smile to go away. Then you go hmmmm what else can I do... nothing else will make big power for so little money

There are chips for 93 octane and 91 octane. Most add 60HP.
$10 per added horsepower is a complete steal. Search the board (including the S4 board) and you'll find a wealth of information on the various chip options.
Keep in mind that all things come at a cost. In addition to the $5-$600, you will put more stress on things (turbos and transmission). The automatic transmission (tiptronic) is rated for about 300 lb/ft of torque, and any chip will exceed that. Some of us have also gotten a "tip chip" which speeds up shifts. If you toast your turbos or transmission, it's about a $4,000 to $5,000 repair.

Nothing will make your Audi into a 911 Turbo!
I always thought that if I had a car like a 911T, my "other" car could be an SUV, or an econocar, or a fat-*** Cadillac, since I'd get my speed jollies with the Porsche.
Your Audi can be made pretty quick; but it will never make you want to give up your Porsche (and if it does, please sell it to me!)
