Doing a trans fluid change on my MT6. Thinking about trying Amsoil or Royal Purple. Thoughts??

Jeez, guys. Oil is a fluid, too. You know what he meant. Anyway, Redline MT-90 is a preferred
choice in this transmission. Spec calls for a straight GL-4 and most others now are combo GL-4/5. I'd go Amsoil over the Royal Purple if it has to be one of those, but quite like the Redline. The R.P. has been reported to be pretty thick, in addition to the GL-5 additives.
Use the Redline 75-90 in the rear diff.

seriously, I thought he was pulling our legs....figured if someone is competent enough to
tackle that job, they would be competent enought to call it 'gear oil' or whatever the appropriate term is.
Just my $.02

Sounds like another Feels Good, Fat Wallet project to me. Gear oil doesn't wear out and needent....
leak out either. GL-5 will inhibit, slow syncro action, use GL-4. Hypoid final drive gearing requires GL-5. If you like color, use orange oil filters.

If you say so. Dino vs. synthetic, and these aren't the smoothest shifters in the world, out of the
box.
Dino oils do have shelf lives, whether engine or transmission. Even if you don't believe that, different products have different lubrication and viscosity properties.
Switching has been known to help with balkiness (or make it worse).

Ignore the guy who doesn't know what shear stability consists of;-) I prefer Redline.

I used Motul. Purchased from purems.com....
Make SURE you can get the fill plug out before you loosen the drain plug. Also plan on getting a little pump to pump the new oil UP into the fill hole from below. I use a little manual pump from the boat that's normally used to suck oil out of the dipstick tube on the Volvo diesel engine.
