Default Extended warrantee-- reputable companies? pitfalls?

I'm doing my homework on the extended warrantee companies. I was wondering if anyone has had bad experiences which I may be able to learn from. thanks!

Default By all means, do your homework . . .

Many companies offer this coverage, and the coverage itself varies a great deal. Fireman's Fund has entered this field recently. Do some web searches--I believe there is a website that specializes in this area. Check out any regular Property/Casualty type insurer with the A. M. Best website; it should be rated at least A, preferably A+ or A++. Non-insurance companies will not be rated there, so I'm not sure where to look for them.
