Default Fasten power steering cooler coil

Hi,

I just bought a 2003 A6 and found that the power steering coil in front of the radiator is not fastened. It is difficult to see but I believe that the plastic mount needs to be screwed into a plastic holder below the radiator. Is that correct? What kind of screw would that be? Thanks for any help in advance.

It's been awhile since I've been down there on my cars, but it probably came from the factory with a m6 bolt with a large phillips head. Since they are so low to the ground (and the winter salt), they have a tendency to seize. On more than one occasion, I have used zip ties to hold the cooling loop in place, with no apparent ill effects.

Hi georgeb944,

Thank you so much for the quick reply. Bolt or screw? I am asking because I did not have the impression that there is a nut to the bolt and that would mean that I would have to take of the bottom. if it's a screw that drills into the plastic holder behind, I could reach that with a long screw-driver through the lower front grill.

Thanks again!

It is a bolt, but with a phillips head.

#5 in the following illustration (although no part number provided.)

I don't recall a separate nut. Perhaps a captive nut on the radiator support.
