Faulty brakes when first starting off.
Hi
I have an A6 (or at least my garage does !!) that has faulty brakes.
When I start off in the morning, the brakes are only about 30% effective for the first few hundred yards. After that they are fine for the rest of the day, even switching the engine off then on. The problem only happens when it has been left overnight, but it happens every time. If you turn the ASR button off after starting the engine in the morning, the brakes appear ok. If you leave the engine running for 5 minutes before starting off, the brakes are still faulty. It appears that the problem goes away after the wheels have gone round a few times.
Can anyone throw any light on the problem as i am starting to pull my hair out - and so is my garage!
Many thanks
Steve

Cold pads do not brake well.
After driving a litle bit pads worm up (due to the friction) and behaive their best. I think it is normal behavior especially if you use sport-upgraded pads.

Cold TRACK pads may not brake well. Stock pads s/b fine.
If you pump the pedal a few times before you move the car, do you still have the problem? Is the pedal low when you first start it?
Possible vacuum leak or other problem in the power assist system? Low brake fluid? (I think wet brake fluid would be worse when it warms up, not better.)
Maybe the rotors are wet in the morning?
Just some guesses - hope it helps.
