The eBay auction references someplace called "Module Master". Is that the place that's been mentioned here before?

ModuleMaster.com

Pretty sure "yes". I've seen that site before, and it was probably from here.

Default I think it's probably a couple of factors...

...with the big one being the placement of the controller itself. Audi used to place the controller inside the cabin (under the rear seat, I believe) and now it lives under the hood. Under hood stresses take their toll on a lot of parts.

Add to that the design of the thing. From reading the site that rebuilds these things, it sounds as if Bosch changed the construction of their ABS controllers and it could be a factor. I have no proof of that.

Thanks for the compliment on the sig. I gotta work on making it smaller... IT'S HUGE!

2000 B5 S4s have lots of problems with these. Only the relay half goes bad.

Default It's not just audi, BMWs are having the same issue with this Bosch part

If it makes you feel any better, BMW guys are in the same boat. With more cars having the issue, the replacement/rebuild cost is bound to go down.

http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e39/6396064-1.html</a

Default If they do, then Maybachs probably use two of them.

When I spent some time looking under the hood at one, that was at Road Atlanta on a practice day, for Petite LeMans 2003, there were two Mercedes-logoed ABS controllers, presumably because of the dual front calipers on the Maybach.

IIRC, the second one is on the far left in this pic, barely visible.
