foamy specks all over my dash!
heres a question-
on my 99 a6q the climate control fan seems to be quite noisy, but worse than that, it blows small black foamy pieces across my dash- mostly from the center area- is this some sort of gasket that has decomposed with age? i am at a loss to know what it is but it drives me nuts!
help!

I'd say it's definetly the foam gasket(s) breaking down.
I had the same issue with my old 5000 and coupe (both Audis).
If it's coming out of primarilly the center vent, odds are it's not the gasket near the blower fan; which is easilly accessible behind the glovebox. I'm sure it's documented on this forum, try searching the archives. Good luck!

I replaced my heater core last year - it has foam around all the edges...
Pulling the old one out and sliding in the new one seems to mess with the foam, so I've assumed that is what I've been seeing. I didn't notice it prior to replacing the heater core, so I don't know what it means if you see it prior to disturbing the core. Probably just deterioration with age.
