Manuals will be hard to find, also big differences between the tranny...
...in the 528 and the 540. The 540 got the 6-speed and believe it or not, is not as smooth as the 5-speed in the 528.

Actually, it seems to me based upon purely anecdotal evidence (peering into windows)...
that manuals in the 540's are almost as common as automatics.
Put it this way, a manual 540 seems to be a lot more common than a manual 2.7t.

Peering into windows...LMAO! But let me clarify, the manuals I was referring to..
...are for the 528 (which is brat2's initial choice for his comparison). 80% of BMW's clientelle for a 528 was for "luxury" and bought automatics. The 540 buyer was more performance oriented, and had a higher percentage of people who ordered manuals.
