Car is out of commission. Tried to replace the battery and seems like my ECU has gone bezerk. My car dies immediately after start-up, I can keep it steady up to 4k rpm but once I let go of the gas the car dies. it also sputters like stuttering John misfiring and hee haw!

I just wanted to replace my dead battery! I think I need to VAG to try and reset ECU. I tried to leave the key in "accessory" position for a few minutes after reconnecting and before starting but no such luck to reset!

Please help, it's stuck over 50 miles from my regular mechanic and towing is going to kill me!
