Default Americans hate being told what the should or should not own. As a result...

... they will dismiss rational facts like this, and instead cling to nonsense. In a few years, we'll think of SUVs as the equivalent of tailfins from the 1960s. The "tall AWD" car evolution will continue, and eventually, we'll all drive Audi sedans and Avants.

Default 3 people dead in an SUV accident 1.5 miles from my house 3 days ago.

Couldn't make the hard curve on the freeway on-ramp. Sad really. 6 people in the vehicle including a 5 month old baby who died, other kids and parents. Survivors quite messed up, not to mention the emotional destruction. Flew off the curve, rolled a few times, and that's all she wrote. I can take the same curve at 40+ no sweat in the Audi, but it is tight. Still...I wouldn't go near an SUV.

Sad that SUV drivers are so easily beguiled by sheer size ;-(

Ultimately it is not the car, but the way you drive it that speaks to safety IMO.
