Ignition key locked

Went on 2 months vacation to Europe and left my 1998 Audi A6 with my dad to drive it twice a week.
He managed to somehow lock the key in ingnition.

Key is in, car starts and drives fine.
When I shut it down, I can't get the key out.
I guess it won't turn all the way back to allow me to take it out.

So, key is in all the time. Can't lock my doors with spare remote.

Any experiences and suggestions?

I would try to turn the wheel, with the key off, end to end it's going to be hard! try to work the

key out as you do.

Flip it in and out of Tip mode a few times. Mine stuck like that as if I still had it in tip mode.

That happened to me once - shifted from tip+/- to P...

but in the rapid transition apparently the shifter didn't make it all the way into the main gate, even though it was in the park position. The key would not come out of the ignition.

So, I turned the key back to the on position - The shifter was difficult to move, but I managed to coax it back to the tip gate, then back to the main & up to Park. All was fine after that.

Can low battery casue this?

I know it sounds wierd, but my car is dead this morning. Battery seems to be empty.
Maybe was low for last few weeks, and prevented some computer parts to run properly???
Maybe car was thinking someone was trying to steal it and locked the key in???
Is there a such feature in 98 Audi A6?
