Default I'm deeply concerned.....

I have a 2003 A6 3.0 and have been quite satisfied with it so far having only test driven the 2003 model.

Today my car went in for its first service. I received a 2002 A6 3.0 loaner with the same milage as my car only a year older.

The first thing I noticed was that the engine was a 6 speed as opposed to my 5 speed. In addition over the course of the day, I noticed it had better acceleration, better gas milage, quieter engine, looser/responsive steering, and was appreciably smoother over the same roads that lead to and from my house/work.

Talk about a control study with variables fixed! A scientist wouldn't be happier for comparative purposes The only difference is the year...was 2002 a better year for the A6 than 2003? I feel cheated in some ways and am very depressed now.

Please advise as to what changed between these years to make the same car soooo very different.

Thanks.

i don't get it, i don't think the 3.0 was ever offered in manual...they left out a gear in the 03? weird.....

Please clarify, "6 speed as opposed to my 5 speed" Manual or Auto, there is no Auto 6

Default the 3.0 w/ the 5 speed-manual is only offered in non-quattro-equipped vehicles

you can order the 6-speed-transmission only with quattro. both transmissions are offered with automatic-shifting (5speed: multitronic; 6speed: tiptronic).

Default Huh??? Are you in the U.S.??? No 6-speed 3.0s ever!

The 3.0 is only and has only been available with the same 5-speed tiptronic that has always been on the A6 and a inifinite-speed CVT transmission. No 6-speed.

Default 6-speed (manual) has only come on the 2.7T A6 and allroad...that's it...

the 2.8, 3.0, and 4.2 have not come with the 6-speed. All of their automatics have been tiptronic 5-speeds except for the 3.0 Frontrak CVT.

Default Re: Huh??? Are you in the U.S.??? No 6-speed 3.0s ever!

All I know is that the vehicle has 3.0 insignia on the bumper and has 6 speeds when in tiptronic mode.

The dealer key says 2002 A6 3.0.

I'm in Canada and VERY confused...I will call the dealer tomorrow. I will take a digital pic for everyone to see as well. I am not deluded.
