I'm not so sure this is limited to my RS6 so I'd rather post over here since there's more activity.

Mine does the groan during low speed, tight radius turns.
And only when accelerating. If I am turning and let go of the gas the groan stops. But in my case its accompanied by a harsh vibration. Changing the trans. fluid and rear diff. fluid had no affect. Upsizing the tires/rims & lowering the car seemed to antagonize the vibration. Checked PS fluid levels to be fine. Will probably do a more in depth eval. in due time.

Same thing here on my '01 A6. Will make the dealer
document as recommended by Kam below, before my warranty ends in November. Not sure what this "documentation" is worth, though. After previous experiences with a VW dealership, my Audi SA is NOT going to like me very much.

Again, this may be to quattro driveline "scrub"...
April recently posted something on this. When driving in a parking garage at low speeds with the window open, you can hear this all the time.

Not what I'm hearing. It's pronounced, happens with deliberate movement of the steering wheel and
is very brief. I've also pinpointed it to happening when I am returning the steering wheel to the dead on position. Meaning, it doesn't happen when I turn the wheel, but when I am returning it to the straight ahead position. Got it to groan twice tonight doing that coming into the driveway.

Well that rules out scrub...
I would stand on the dealer to fix this before it gets worse or causes more damage. My "steering noises" were fixed by the dealer quickly and permanently. Good luck!
