Can any of you guys help me. I cannot get my immobiliser light to go off. The problem was Intermittent for a while and would work after a few goes or a period of time but has been getting more frequent until Tuesday whereby I could start my A6 at all. I tried my spare key, but that too was no good. I have had to join the AA so they can get my A6 to a dealer. I will be calling them out tomorrow and booking my car in. Any last chance Ideas anyone has would be much appreciated.

It's a 98 and the light flashing is the immobiliser light on the dash..

Are you in England are in Europe? If so, you may have had this technology before we got it here.

I had a new key cut for my 2001 2.7T and it required a couple followup visits to the dealer to get it all fixed up right. The light still lights up when I start the car with my new key, but it goes out as soon as the car starts. You definitely have a need to get to a dealership ASAP.

I think the 4.2 had an immobilizer for part of 2000. It was not available on any other A6 or A4 at any price that year.

Early early 2001s don't have it either.
