A6 / S6 (C5 Platform) Discussion Discussion forum for the C5 Audi A6 and S6 produced from 1998-2004

I've been reading some old posts about Audis really being FWD cars.

I think it's safe to say that every Audi made today is designed for AWD from the start.

I never saw it, yet I still bought the car! Great pic with BMW in the background.

Default My friends STI has fully active diffs but the EDL will provide similar traction.

Of course it would not be practical to use Audi's EDL system on a rally car because the brakes would get very hot and rob some power.

Default both modifications were done myself

The trim in front is easy - go to a Pep Boys or similar auto store and buy 'door edging trim for TRUCKS' (thicker than for cars) and install it around the center grill, which snaps right in and out.

THe exhaust tips I used a dremel to cut out the bumper holes, a hack saw to remove the OE tips, and then had a local muffler shop tack weld on some 3.5" tips.

all in all a nice update for little money!

Default Correct - all recent, ie Audi's built since about 1985 have ...

been designed with quattro in mind, although some still do have slightly different floorpans FWD v/s 4WD.

This, of course, excludes the A2 which will not have 4WD at all in its current form.
