How hard is it to remove the radio? Something I can do at Home or do I need a professional to pull them out for me. I've seen some ideas from people here but I don't want to try and make the problem worse if I can avoid it

You generally have to get the 'special' radio removal tools. You push them in and the radio basically just pops out. They're usually a couple bucks on ebay and I've even heard of a few people who have even cut their own based on the shape and it's worked fine. You need TWO with your radio (but I think you can only buy them in sets of four).

So I got the radio fixed!! So nice to have Bose sound back heh. Thanks again for all the post to help get it done!

Mine died completely, it seems that have no idea what it might be, all the fuses are good, checked another deck and nothing....radio was cutting in and out before, then dying and turning back on, now its dead. do i need a new one? whats the problem?
Fyi i took this motor out replaced most of it, and did all the work myself, wired subs, I know what I'm doing, 2004 a6 2.7 fun
