Default MY A6 is the spawn of the Devil

My as is acting up once again, just got the timing fixed since that was causing it to not start. Now I have a problem.
When my car is off the battery dies but I unplugged it while the car was running and she kept going....good alternator. Don't know how old the battery is although.....After a few tries it goes from the clicking sound(which usually indicates a dead battery) Then it seems to pull juice from the gates of heaven and the car starts after three attempts.....how can it go from dead to just enough juice to start the car? WTF?!

Default Sometimes the heat of the battery trying to work will cause the water to expand..

which creates more coverage on the plates.. I've seen it a few times.

you need a new battery, and it's not the car's fault.

Oh, and NEVER disconnect the battery with the engine running, bad things can happen.

Default "I unplugged it while the car was running and she kept going" - such a bad idea.

The battery provides a frame of reference for the alternator. No battery in the loop and the alternator just goes full blast. Your delicate electronics do not like 18 volts.

Have the battery tested or just replace it for a start.

Default UPDATE

Just went to work and came back... the car seems to maintain a consistent charge on the battery. Car started as if the battery was very low on charge, but it didn't completely drain as it did last night. Also noticed something strange. When the car starts, My RPM meter and the other gauges on the tach lag behind on the initial start as they first do. Im going to buy a new battery tomorrow since most likely its the problem. But the 1200.00 repair bill on my timing job cause me to overdraft my bank X_X I hope this doesn't blow up again.
