Default My baby went away on a flatbed today to go visit the dealer

Sad sight...got quite emotional as she was carted away. Posted earlier regarding ECT gauge moving to right of center...each day creeping a bit higher. Had today off and running local with the kids (thankfully), temp guage started to climb, 10 mins later the a/c went (blowing hot) followed shortly by the ECT warning light coming on. Guage stuck at 2nd to last bar on right....scooped my kid out of his tennis lesson, drove home three blocks and shut it down, luckily no overheat. Can't wait for this call from the dealer. Will now see how good my extended warranty is (America's Choice Plus). Have purchased quite a few both new and used cars in the past. Taking into account the uncertainty of how previous owner treated vehicle (car was in great shape), and the mileage of 55K...I have never owned a car with so many problems. May just swap with my wife and take her Toyota Sienna with 124K on it (NOT) Forget the mods...I'm going broke on the maintenance. She sure does look perty when she is washed and waxed though Thanks for letting me (I hope) vent.

Default Mine had 60k when the thermo went...if you don't do your own maint & repair work on these cars

you'll either go broke paying $$$ to repair shops and/or stealerships, or end up selling it especially if you don't have an extended warranty. Luckily, I do all the work myself because I have most of the tools required, know exactly what I'm doing, and I don't trust most mechanics to do the job as well as I can.

Default Beware of this....

Not much time left after the coolant temp gauge reaches this level......

Default Epic, being as we drive the same car (sans mods)...

what other goodies do you think are in store for me in the near future (clock reads 55900)? MAF was replaced b4 I purchased..I just replaced rear rotors, pads, two outer tie rods, d/s outer cv boot and center differential seal, 90% of which was paid for by seller of car.

Sold my roller cabinet of tools a long time ago. Thought I was finished with that faze of my life. I buy an Audi and now I need a toolbox to keep it running? Sounds kind of backwards. Do I sound bitter? yes I do...my apologies. Venting again...I'll go beat the dog (kidding...don't have one). Sure the neighbors will be asking why the car was hauled away on a flatbed...Will tell them something like "MTV is going to pimp my ride". That is MTV, right?

Thanks dude.

Default The thermostat went bad?

At 60k you're either replacing the water pump, the thermostat, the t'belt, or all 3.

At ~55k my water pump went. If you're an Audi owner worth your salt, then you know that a water pump means t'belt, serpentine belt, thermostat, roller, and tensioner.

Guess what a thermostat mean? Same as a water pump. You're looking at $1000.
