Default Need wheel/tire advice

I recently bought a used 2002 A6 2.7T w/ the sport package. It's got the BBS 17" wheels on it, but I'd like to go 18" and I'll keep the 17s for winter wheels. I don't need 19s. Most likely going to go with RS4 reps, although I like wheels with some lip to them (last car had 18" Oettinger REs), so I'm still in the shopping mode. So, with 18s, do I was 18x8 or 18x8.5? What is the widest tire I can put on those rims without any rubbing? 235/40/18? Can I go 245?

Default I got 235/40/18 and its perfect

245 will probably rub.
since you have a 2.7T you will need wheels that can clear your brakes. They are different from the 2.8 or 3.0's.

Ebay also has some good deals on wheels at this moment if you want to get them cheaper.

Default For the narrow bodies, IMHO the best all-around size is an 8" wide wheel with ET35-38 and 235 tire.

Keeps the original rolling diameter and puts the tire at the edge of the front fender line without sticking out.

Depending on offset, though, you can get an 8.5" wheel on there. And some people are running 245s and 255s with ET35 (AFAIK, with 8" wheels). So, it'll fit -- whether it's correct to your eye is up to you.

8 X 8.5 Looks better and fits perfectly.235 is the proper tire but 245 may work depending on offset.

I have 18x8.5s +35 with 235/40s. I like to look and she's very stable.

I have 18X8.5 with 245/40, it's close but it works fine. 235/40 is the more proper size though.

Rather you explain it. Do you understand aspect ratio? No way a 225/40 protects more than 235/40.
