Default Oh, isn't he a clever lad

has no real answer, so attempts a snappy comeback. Aren't you due to shed your latest skin?

Default Brand recognitioin and reputation is not as strong; I purchased my Audi after much research myself

Merc and BMW have better brand recognition and history and is recommanded my most when shopping for luxury european cars. Audi didn't turn itself around until the last great A4 but the reliablity is a bit shaky but the value is stronger and is a great way to enjoy a great car without being noticed.

Weak history also equals to weak resale value and uncertain return on investment so I was very cautious but wanted something different than mainstream and better value and none-American or Japanese (other than Infinite and Lexus) so my choise narrowed down to the A4 and A6

Default Fear of the unknown? It's a pricey car, but buyers are still learning...

... to see the value in the car.

I also suspect that Audi buyers are cross-shopping and using comparable Audi prices to drive down BMW and MB dealers.

Just guesses.

Default You make a lot of good points but,...

When you say history, I guess you mean Audi history in the U.S. Funny thing is, Audi history, and resale value were a non-issue until the '60 Minutes' episode of 1985. Even though Audi was totally exonerated, we are still suffering from it today. Finally, there are only 2 ways to increase resale value; 1) Buyers pay more at purchase and, 2)dealers pay more at trade-in. For now, the way most buyers (67%)get around the resale issue by leasing the vehicle. That way, they only pay for what they use.
