@ georgeb944 & clancy,

My car user manual did not mention power steering fluid refill or change at all. Thank you. I'll buy 2 lt to be safe.

Hello again, I have been researching and I found (please confirm) that if I drain the whole cooling system then I can refill using G13 ( G013A8JM1) instead of G12. I am still searching for the exact ratio (water/G13) and I would appreciate any insight or help.
1. Can I use G13 instead of G12?
2. What ratio do I dilute G13?
3. What is the system's total capacity?
Audi S6 4B, C5 (2000) WAUZZZ4BZYN106092
Thank you in advance for anyone who can help and share his expertise.

Tommaso

I've been using tractor hydraulic fluid in all my Audis for the past 30 years with absolutely no problems and have never flushed the system.
Did once clean the filter screen in the reservoir on a 200Q20V.

You are lucky to get away with that. The Pentosin is a mineral oil base. Using other fluids usually causes seal and hose failure.

Thank you but I prefer to utilize OEM or compatible parts/fluids.

If anyone knows (a) if I can use G13 in place of G12, (b) what is the mix the raito and (c) what is the total capacity of the system, I would realy appreciate the information.
Unfortunatley Audi Italy keeps referring me to the dealrs network but the are reluctant to share this information and ask me to bring my car (20 years old) in for maintenance...

I feel bullied by Audi and I don't want to give in especially since it is a very simple task!

Regards to all, happy 2019

I did google, repeatedly, but I was not as good as you, thanks for helping me out. I also searched this forum but, perhaps, the key words that I used were not appropriate or sufficient. Again, thank you for the links. So... mix ratio is 50/50 and G13 is compatible with G12, in my car.

This link that you posted reccommends distilled water but I read somewhere that only demineralised water should be used. Apparently demineralised and distilled are not the same thing. Do you happen to know which it is?

Also I could not find the total cooling system capacity to determine how many liters of G13 I should buy for a 4.2 S6 (year model 2000). Any idea?

9 liters is the total capacity, so you should be 5 liters to do a 50/50 mix.

Thank you to all who helped.

For the benefit of future readers of this post i add information that I gained today.

After numerous calls and vigorous conversations, I received a WhatsApp note from a dealership's number. This note, plus a subsequent phone call, determined that:
1. Originally the facotry used G12+ in a 40/60 ratio with water (40 parts of G12 to 60 parts of water);
2. G12+ can NOT be mixed with G13;
3. G13 is compatible with my vehicle but I must first flush - completely - the system to ensure that no G12+ residue remains in the system. This is not simple to achieve as the recircle valve remains closed until 90°C;
4. The system's capacity is 6.5 litres plus hoses.

This information is valid for Audi S6 model year 2000, type 4B, C5, chassis code: 1BD, engine code: AQJ (250kW 4.2).
