Power window cable broken

My driver's door power window stopped working this week (window floats freely up and down...motor runs fine, but doesn't do anything) and I just pulled it apart to discover that the cable that pulls the window carrier up and down is rusted and finally snapped. Does anyone know whether this cable can be purchased al la carte, or does it come with a new window regulator (motor)?

If it can be purchased separately...any instructions on how to install? I couldn't seem to find it in the Bentley.

In looking at ETKA, it appears you need the complete window carrier.

Maybe you can try some stainless steel cable (deep sea fishing line?)
