problem after problem..... NOW THIS IS BAD
My maintenance folder is about 1 1/4" thick. It includes everything I've done to it and the former owner. Yeah, there's been a pretty good amount of shop time but other than some errant CEL lites and nuisance stuff, it's mostly regular maint, including oil changes every 3,000.
Knowledge is power. I'm in the market for another car. I asked the a seller for documentation, including when the T-Belt was changed, he said, "it was changed last year but I don't have the maintenance receipts". Good luck finding some other sucker. Not me!
some people dont like that i do my own owrk, even though i was a certified vw technician .
bottom line, condition of the ar, inside and out, and condition of the motor as well as the character of the person all come into account, documents only say so much. case in point, buying a car from a kid that has all the documents and you think ok it was taken care of, only to find out he beat the crap out of the turbos and have htem spiking up to 25 psi and have them fail 3 weeks down the road... but at least you had all the documents for the matianence

grammar ***** see my other post :P
Part the damn thing out and get a newer car.
But I digress.
I wouldn't buy an audi without a minimum of two years warranty on anything going wrong with it. Because stuff happens, and with Audi it's expensive stuff.
40 years ago I sold my first car (a POS 60 valiant with a 170cu in slant six and a three on the floor) to a friend of a friend. I had paid $125 for the car and put maybe 20K miles on it and tires, brakes, some suspension bj work and incredibly sloppy fiberglass cloth body work. Heck, the car worked and didn't burn oil. Changed oil in trans, rear axle, all that stuff. Sold the car for $175 and the girl that got it went to college with it, put 10K miles on it and broke a rear axle. Shoot..you'd think I had schtooped my friend's first love and then trash talked her on the college newspaper.
Moral of the story...don't sell cars to anyone you know. They will never appreciate it when things go wrong.
Interesting side note . i took my car in a ( 00 A6 )s it had rusted through on the front drivers fender. Initially they weren't going to cover it but the dealership owner got involved and had Audi cover the repair as he felt the car was so well looked after thay had to do there part and the rust through was iunavoidable.. the car has 350,000km on it .
