Default A question about upgrading a '01 rear valance to an '02+

Thanks to the "cell phone talking while driving in stop and go traffic" idiot who rear-ended me last week I plan on updating the rear valance of my '01 A6 to the '02+. I have a question about what people have used for new exhaust tips to go throught the cut-outs. In searching the forum I found that Magnaflow makes some tips that a few have used but I wanted to find out if there are any others that have a stock look or if you can actually get stock tips or if they are just part of the mufflers. Thanks in advance.

Default you can check my picture poster for oval ones.

I think the stock tips are too small to fill the cutouts.

Default Your entire bumper need to be replaced, not just the valence...

even though your '01 looks like it is two pieces, it is not. The whole cover is one piece. Get both the lower valence with the cutouts as well as the '02 cover. COst is virtually the same, so you might as well go with the one that comes already with the exposed cutouts.

There are a couple of tips that are out there that look OEM. Keep in mind that the OEM cutout in the "02+ valence is like 5" in diameter, so you could fill them with a 3" tip like OEM, or go larger and go 3.5". 4" might be too big for the opening, but it is up to you.

Just make sure you get double walled tips (like Magnaflows) and they look best if you can get angle-cut (15 degrees).

Good luck. Let us know what you end up doing, and PICTURES PLEASE when it is done!

Default Yes I am planning on the whole bumber, the damage is actually

above the valence, it is through the bumber cover and the steel support underneath. I saw the oval 3.5" x 2.5" tips from Magnaflow on their site and I think I might go with those. I will post photos when finished (probably a few weeks before I can get into my bodyshop). Thanks.

Thanks, I think I am going with the 3" MagnaFlows, I like the OEM look. Will follow-up with photos.
