fenders like the A6 4.2. Is this standard now. Also, I got a glance at the interior of his car and boy it looked sweet. Woodtrim everywhere, black on tan. it was gorgeous. So, what model year A6 has the flared fenders on the turbo? Also, ill bet the 4.2 is a drives like a boat(no offense), but how is on the highway?

Default the 2.7T and the 4.2 drive almost alike.. i've owned both..

the 4.2 tracks better as it has wider tires and a wider stance...

Default Disagree - the 2.7 feels nimbler due to less weight (particularly less weight over the front!).

The phat tires on the 4.2 help a great deal with the ultimate roadholding ability, as does the wider track (both front and rear, IIRC), but the 2.7 is ever so slightly more "tossable".

My guess is the one chicagoland s4 saw likely had the 4.2/S6/allroad lower door sills.

All that said, I keep a hankie handy for the 4.2's...drooling over those flares is hard not to do. Note also that the flares are identical on both the 4.2 and S6 Avant, but they really stand out more on the sedan. Damned gorgeous...I wonder if they'll pull any rabbits out of the hat with the hot C6 A6's (S6, RS 6)? I like the look of the new A6, but.....it needs some flare!

or just get the '04 s line which has more hp/torque and 17s or 18s standard =) and get the 4.2/s6/allroad fender flares...

you just miss out on the wider track =(

Default Uh, the fender flares DO NOT retrofit to the S Line. As April and others have said time

(and time and time again!) virtually every body panel on the 4.2 is different from the standard A6 body and there is no cross-fitting them....

Default Interior stayed the same except in 02(?) they added:

chrome dial rings in the instrument cluster and power passenger seats.

Default What color was the car, and where? Did it look anything like the car in my sig? ;-).

As others have said, you can't retrofit the flares.

OTOH, with the offset on my wheels, it can appear wider than a stock A6, so perhaps you saw a similar car.

There USED TO BE customizable interior "atmospheres", with different leather, seat stitching, wood trim, etc., but that was dropped a few years ago.

Quick Reply: quick question for you A6 guys. I saw an A6 2.7t the other day, and it looked like it had the wider
