Re 100 octane gas. I have found a local source in S. Fl but....
somebody pointed out to me that in California where the posts are originating regarding the wonderful gains to be had with 100 octane, you have crap gas. So in Florida where we have decent 92 octane would the gains be worth it by trying the 100 at $4 a gallon??? April? anybody ?

Re: You can get 100 octane at some 76's in cal.... not enough of them though.
there are a couple in the orange county/irvine area. one is the 76 near the irvine spectrum (laguna canyon exit) the other is off the 73 toll road on bonita cyn. white pumps, pull up and juice.

Take it easy - just calcuate for 94~95 octane. This is all you need.
Just figure out and blend to 95 octane or so.
Unless the engine has been tuned for higher octane I cannot imagine a stock 2.7t will run better above about 94~95 octane. Even the mildly chipped engines set on 93 back east might not do any better on full 100 than 96 octane.
Of course if you have RS4 spec engine, then 95.5-96 octane would be great, as that is about what they run on in Europe at stock power.
Aviation gas everyone talks about is usually "LL100" and it is a low leaded fuel. Can't use it in the Cat fitted cars.

Check the 76 website...
http://www.76.com/
Click "Station Locator" then make sure the "Racing Fuel" check box is marked. It's usually about $4.10/gal.
A 76 station took over a Chevron on Woodside Road in Redwood City and they now provide 100 octane at 2 of the pumps closest to the garage.
