rear shelf removal- help!
i need to remove my rear shelf so i can install the upper anchor tethers- i can't get it out!
i have removed the 17mm bolt holding in the rear seat side bolsters, but i can't seem to remove the parcel shelf- do the seat belt things need to be removed? should this thing slide out? my dealer didnt' finish the install, and i have no instructions ACK!

Isn't the dealer supposed to put those in free of charge?
I posted a question about getting the LATCH system installed, and a few others posted back that the dealer will put them in for free. I haven't checked yet, but plan too. Maybe you should too. It's worth a phone call.

you would think its that easy eh?
yes, and they DID install the lower tethers but my nearest dealer is 275 miles to the north or 250 miles to the south so i made an appt to have the latch installed (and the throttle body recall) and i drove to my dealer in portland.
Dropped the car off at 8:15am (no audi loaner- only gm blech) and expected to pick up my car that afternoon- however at 3pm when i called, the service dept said they hadn't even started my car yet and wanted to keep it overnite- which was not an option since i had no where to stay and i had to return that nite- so they said they would get it done by 5:30-
when i went to pick up my car, they said that they could only install the lower anchors because the release lever for the rear drivers seat was broken- therefore - job not done
so i have the parts, and i don't really want to drive another 600 miles just to have the upper anchors installed
yikes thats a long post

Damn stealership
Those guys are soooooooo lazy. You drop it off and they haven't touched it by 3pm. That is total BS!!!
I'd be kicking and screaming if I were you. The reason Audi does this free IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO. The company didn't get them installed in time to meet the new regulations, so they offer to retro fit for free. Band-aid fix if you ask me. And now the Stealership is giving you grief. Do I smell a class action?
OK rant off.
BTW, I think your problem is that driver's seat you have installed in the back. You should never allow a back seat driver. Get that thing removed pronto.

You also have to remove the rear C&D pillar trim around the triangle window.
I just had mine out earlier this year to get my windows tinted. To get the C&D pillar trim out, you have to also remove the rear portion of the headliner trim. To start, you have to remove the little airbag clip at the top of the B pillar, the grab bar, and the coat hook. The rear headliner trim also has one of those funny clips attached to a cable similar to the front healiner trim. See the tech section for how to remove those clips.
