Replacement windshield

After reading the various postings that highly recommended PPG glass, I specifically asked Safelite to order a replacement windshield from PPG. After waiting a week for the windshield to come in, Safelite replaced the windshield while I was at work. Good job with the installation, but they installed a Pilkington windshield. When I called, the local Safelite shop claimed that PPG and Pilkington were now the same organization, at least for their windshield lines. I hadn't heard that. Can anybody confirm one way or the other? By the way, I haven't noticed any distortion so I probably won't bother replacing with PPG glass. TIA.

BTW, how much does the whole procedure cost?

$380.03 for the windshield, $35.00 for labor and $111.00 for the trim kit -- total of $526.03 was charged to my insurance company.

According to Safelite, the Pilkington glass that I got is OEM glass. What I like about this windshield is that it has the black dot that hides the wiring for the auto-dimming rearview mirror. I think that I've read that the PPG wouldn't have had the black dot. Maybe that's consolation for not getting the PPG glass that I wanted!
