This Saturday is TWO MONTHS that my 4.2 has been at the body shop. :-(
Parts acquisition problems, again and again.
If I ever get frustrated enough to sell this car, it will because the correct parts are so hard to get. My dealer had the car two weeks earlier this year trying to order a correct seat part. And the recent body shop repairs have been delayed at least a couple weeks due to difficulty getting the correct parts.
Seems that they both complained that the Audi ordering system is whacked. Sigh.

I ttook two months to get my replacement hood...
But I got the car back operational after two weeks and drove it with that ugly smacked in hood for about 7 weeks before they replaced it. Kind of embarrasing, but no as much as the in-law's '86 Cutlass. At least it started, stopped, and got me where I was going. LOL, it didn't turn right very well, though.

Are parts availability for the other German makes any better in your area?
Not meant as a zing against Audi. But I am just curious how well MB and BMW do at gettng their replacement parts distributed across the country.
With Audi, it does seem apparent that if you don't live in a major metropolitan area, it's tough to get the parts for the cars.

Re: Waiting to get your baby back can be a bummer.
I hope that whom ever was in the car is ok. My previous car a 1999 Acura CL, Yeah I know Boring and uninspiring but DAMN reliable, was rear ended at 45-50 mph with the wife at the wheel. Took around three months to get back. On the plus side the body shop I took it to informed me on how well the vehicle took the hit. I was shown another make of car that had been hit at about the same speed and the rear bumper would have been in her back pocket, if you know what I mean. Wife will be OK, just getting done with therapy for neck and back pain.

It's not availability, it's the ability to order the right part.
In both cases (dealer and body shop), the Audi ordering materials (photos, microfiche) are easy to misinterpret or hard to match up to the part.
So, parts get ordered, but when they come in, they are the wrong ones.
At least, that is what they are telling me.
With the seat deal earlier this year, the dealer had to get the factory in Germany involved.

Ironically, the physical therapy is over, but the car is not ready!
Actually, I was already in therapy for the last car wreck (three years ago; occasional flareups) when I got hit this time. I had one more visit to go, then WHAM. Back in for some more visits.
Fortunately, I only had to prolong the therapy about a few extra weeks.
Nothing more than whiplash (this wreck) and aggravating the previous lower back (L5, S1) problem.
