Default Snub mount impressions

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/5503/picture_025.jpg"></center><p>
The front bumper had to come off to install a snub mount (stronger front motor mount) just like on an S4.

While the bumper was off , the tech did the clear corner mod, and replaced the horns (more on those later)

the idea is to keep the engine/trans from flexing as much during shifts. I was really shocked how small and mushy the stock mount was!

Driving the car away from the shop was amazing. while the throws are still pretty long, the shifting accuracy was improved 2-3x. No really. It feels like a whole new car.

It just seems to now actualy go into the gear I want, then I want it too without nearly as much slop.

Parts $40
Labor - 3.5 hours
Value - 10!!<ul><li><a href="http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/engine_mount.html">http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/engine_mount.html</a</li></ul>

Default Damn, that sounds nice. Must have been a little

freaky to have the bumper pulled. But, it sure sounds like they did a great job and it was worth it.

The AWE DTS would make a much larger improvement.

Default actually, according to Kenny from Kentech, the snubmount makes a much bigger difference

on all Audi products. That is why APR sells so many. His feeling is that most of the slop is at the front of the engine, and that while the DTS is a great pice, the cost benifit is way in favor of the snub mount. even with the dts, the front of the engine stll wallows

Default APR got the idea of the snub from me when they came to look at my DTS..

I designed the DTS too, and I can tell you that it is much more effective than the snub. You only need one, not both.

People buy them because they are cheap, but rest assured they are not as good as the DTS alone.

Default That's kind of dumb. They are not cheap once you add up the install time

DTS - $349
Install - 1/2 hour at $80
Total - $389

Snub Mount - $40
3 Hours labor at $80 = $240
Total $280

Not much cheaper

Plus I can tell you from my old muscle car days that keeping the engine in place is more important to torque transfer than keeping the trans still.

YMMV of course

Default I agree, but thats why peeps buy them initially. Don P agrees with me as well about which is better.

The biggest source of slop is the lack of a tranny mount, and I came to that conclusion after much testing with the modified front mount I made, and finally the DTS.

If you want the ultimate, get both, but the snub will add some vibes, which is another reason I went to market with the DTS.

APR asked if I minded if they sold the snub since I scrubbed it, and I said "sure" like an idiot!

Default Does it fit the 03? Heard at one time it hung a little low; but , if

I'm not mistaken you revised that flaw out?
