Well ive been experiencing some turn signal problems on my 2002 A6 4.2L . I was getting some squelching sounds eminating from my hazhard switch when id start my car and when i wasnt even using my turn signals. When i would use my turn signals they would stay solidly lit with no flashing but my hazards would flash properly, so after some reading i asumed it was my hazard/flasher unit.

I removed my old unit and cleaned some of the contacts and put it back in and got the functionality back of my turn signals flashing but still would get the annoying squelching nosie.

So i went to my local dealership and purchased a hazard/flasher unit and installed it but im still experiencing the squelching nosie with full functionality of my turn signals and hazards, and now i cant get the new unit out to try and return it to the dealership.

So now im back to square one and im assuming im having a turn signal stalk problem, any other suggestions of what might be the problem?

Squelching noise? Is it a kind of sizzling sound?

Its more like a buzzing & grinding noise, not so much of a sizzeling sound if at all.

Hopinf Boston Driver chimes in as he seems to be knowledgeable on this topic seeing as how he wwrote a DIY on replacing the turn signal stalk which might be the culprit of my problem
