Default Steering wheel jiggle/vibration at 45-55 on 2.7t....

Well, I would like to say Audi has the market cornered on this little "feature" but our new 745i does the exact same thing!!!! Maybe it is some sort of secret German "stick shaker" to keep us all allert and pissed off at these speeds. Or, perhaps it is a deterrent to driving that slow so we can all enjoy a high speed German romp!!! Either way, I think the fact that the 745i does means I can rule out Quattro as the culprit!

Default Your not the only one

I have a two month old 4.2 that has the same problem. Dealer has rebalanced several times, replaced two sets of tires, replaced tie rod ends and still the vibration at that same speed persists.

The dealer has been more than cooperative, but still they do not have a solution.

They are calling the zone rep today.

It is frustrating to drive a 50k car with steering feel that is worse than a rental Taurus!

I never had this problem on my 2000 2.7T

I have same experience for first several minutes of driving, after car sits all night. I suspect it is flat spots on steel belts or condensation inside tire. Mine goes away, if yours doesn't, it's something else.

Default Re: My 6 week old 2.7T is doing this also.

I have had the tires rebalanced twice so far a tthe dealers and it really has not improved. One thing I have really noticed is that the tires appear to flat spot while sitting over night. When I leave for work in the morning the tires feel lumpy for the first few miles. The roads are reasonably smooth and I do not notice the problem after a few miles or driving over the same section of road later in the day. If you figure this out I would like to know what the solution is.

I have had the same problem with my Lexus GS400.
It's the high speed balance, it has never been totally eliminated.

Lexus would balance the tires every time I brought it in for service and it would fix it temporarily, but a friend had his rims changed and that took care of the problem permanently.

Tires (fixed mine) or tire rod ends (fixed Dallas's car).

Default Same experience; don't thinks its the tires though

if its the tires the vibration should not have gone away as you speed up and those types of vibration due to tires is usually accompanied with noices that will increase as speed increases.
