Swapping Transmission ECU's - a few questions
I am having problems with my gearbox, the garage said that the gearbox ECU is faulty. Can I swap it out with a different ECU? Do all the part numbers have to match completely?
the part number for my ECU is 4B0 927 156 BT I have found one on ebay with the following part number
4D0 927 156 AP
Does anyone know what the letters at the end mean? would this work? is there any coding I need to do in vag-com after plugging it into the car?<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:I T&item=270352716543">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:I T&item=270352716543</a</li></ul>
Here are the instructions for resetting the soft coding of the instrument cluster and ECU back to their defaults for the 2002 tip S4:
Recoding the ECU:
Click "Select" under "Select Control Module" from the main screen
Click "01-Engine"
Click "Login-11"
Enter 11463 as the Login Code and click "Do It!"
Click "Recode-07"
Next to "Software Coding" verify it is set to 06751. If it's not, change it accordingly and click "Do It!"
Recoding the Instrument Cluster:
Click "Select" under "Select Control Module" from the main screen
Click "17-Instruments"
Click "Adaptation-10"
Input 60 as the "channel number" and click "Read"
Verify that the stored value is a 1025.
If it is not, input 1025 as the "New Value" and click "Test"
Next to "Test Value," it should now have a 1025.
Click "Save."
Then click "Done, Go Back."
