Default Temp guage question

The temp gage is not working in the car. No codes thrown and hot air blows from the heater. Is this an expensive fix? TIA

Default Very inexpensive, relatively easy to fix.

The temp sender is about $7 at any dealership and the clip that holds it in is about $1...I'd buy 1-2 in case you break/loose one, BTDT.

Getting to the sender can be tricky and swear-inducing if you don;t have sleek hands and arms. It's installed to a coolant pipe on the pass. side rear of the engine. I'm sure otheres will post photos and diagrams.

i replaced one on a 2.8 and i left with a bunch of scratches and a sore hand...but it is basically a 10 minute job.

Default Thanks, now to wait for any pics

My hands/arms are skinny and should fit almost anywhere. Just need to know where I am looking to do the work.

Unless you have the hands the size of a 12 year old, you're gonna get some scratches. Easy fix.

Default It could simply be the sender in the coolant pipe under the MAF. It is a round 3 or 4 pin...

type held in by a horse-shoe type plastic clip. You will see it on a blck metal pipe whihc connects the rear of both heads, then has a branch going forward onto the back of the water pump.

Very common fault.
