Default This is what makes leasing an attractive alternative, albeit a luxury alternative.

You never have to worry about the depreciation. On the other hand, you have a payment for life, which is why it is a luxury.

Default Alternatively, it also makes "buy and hold" very attractive, I have no concerns about

low resale values. I buy exctly the car I want, knowing that it will serve me for a long time (currently almost 9 years with the 2.7T). Oh sure, there's the occasional temptation to look at something new, but if I'm reasonably happy with my current ride (hence the reason to get exactly what one wants) then I'll stick with it for a long time. I figure 3-4 more years on this one.

the ablility to occasionally personalize the car (via mods) from time to time enhances the appeal/fun factor of long-term ownership. Throw on some new wheels and all of a sudden the old whip looks fresh again. Add a chip to the ECU and 'voila' it's more fun to drive than ever before. One can go on and on- it's fun.

Default Definitely, especially on the upper end of luxury..

..why drop $70/80/90+ for a car that you know you'll be tired of in three years? More cost effective to lease, know what your total ownership cost is for a 2/3 year period and walk away and start over.

Default One word missing! "Buy Old and Hold". Having no qualms about high mileage Audis, one gets...

the best bang for the buck between 5 and 15 or 20 years. Currently, `90 90Q-20V, `91 200QT-20V, `02 A6 2.7T, all MTs.

Default Which is why Audi's, and Mercedes

Which is why Audi's, and Mercedes, not so much BMW's make awesome used cars.

That is pretty crazy though but then again they know the maintanence bill that is upcoming on it.
