Default Unbelievable wind noise - 01' A6w2.7T

Just got a new A6w2.7T, one owner, off lease, 39k, perfect condition, and I didn't notice the wind noise until I took the first long trip. Now, I can't get it out of my mine. I was thinking, or am thinking, of selling unless the 40k maintenance can help me. Anybody else hear it or am I losing my mine?

What car are you coming from? BTW, yes, you have seemingly lost your "mine".

Default I've been harping about this for years..with my '99 and the '02

I say it's a design flaw. There was one quite informative thread years ago of someone pulling off the surround that circles the window (I think) and adjusting the screws in and out to "fine tune" how the door pressures the seals. Good luck in finding it.

Didn't the '02 get thicker glass and more insulation to cut down on noise?

Go get a Lexus if you want absolute silence.

Default try using 303 Aerospace Protectant on the rubber molding/weatherstripping

on the body and door (there's also a flange on the bottom of the door). Treat the window weather stripping too.

Don't use silicone--it eats rubber.

Default Dunno, it's still louder than I think it should be.

It comes from each corner of the doors, where the vertical meets the horizontal. The sunroof noise is embarrassing. I keep the sliding screen in place to mitigate somewhat....and the music on.

Default You certainly have a seal problem. Look for gaps around the driver and passenger door where you

hear the sound. It can be fixed fairly easily and will make a world of difference.

Default You definitely have a problem.

My car, same as yours but with 60k, is absolutely silent at anything except 4k+ RPM or 120+ mph.

Default If it did, I would hate to hear a pre-02...my 03 is louder than should be

One of the first things I noticed about my car was the wind noise on the highway. Coming from a BMW, it was very obvious. Much like anything in life...you get used to it.
"WHAT?! WIND NOISE?! YOU'RE CRAZY I DON'T HEAR ANYTHING. CRANK UP THE BOSE DUDE!!"
