Default Verdict is in: Internal Monitor Control Unit is shorted out.

Apparently my whole interior is gutted right now, I assume that means the whole dash etc. They don't know why it shorted, so I assume that means that it could happen again. Anyone want a 2000 2.7T? hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The service writter said that the extended warranty company will cover the new part and the installation, but they are giving him crap about the diagnoses. I told them to just get a final verdict for that and then I will go after them. Keep in mind that I paid $3k for my extended warranty.

So what of the super-terrific Audi supply chain? Oh, well they'll get me my part on my only car by early next week. AWESOME!

I'm going to go punch a wall now.

Default Hmmmm, would have been out of the "red zone" IMHO

Those of us who had 8/99, 9/99 and 7/99 builds were clearly NOT

[Official start of US 2.7T production was 9/99.]

Default Doesn't your extended warranty have rental car coverage?

Not that it's the same, but beats walking.

Default I think, not even sure, got a ride in today and tomorrow.

I'll deal with it tomorrow morning, don't really want the aggrevation right now. I don't have the contract in front of me unfortunately.

Default true, extended service Ks rarely cover diagnostics

which is one reason I'm lukewarm on them... we paid one hour diagnostics each for the ABS pump and another fix on my wife's '98 Passat, $180 or so total, but since they paid out more on repairs than my contract price, I'm still ahead.

I'll be posting more later about the warranty company, they're screwing us on another claim that's under appeal, much smaller $$ but all in all illustrates why I'm middling at best on service contracts (I've spent MANY hours on these items with them, and my time is worth something, too).

Good luck,
Jon

Default Thanks, good luck to you also.

The really aggrevating thing is that I couldn't really do anything. I mean I guess I could have taken two days off work and torn my dash apart. But seriously, I'd rather do a turbo swap on my own.

We will see how they respond to me, that will probably determine what happens to the car at this point.
