Wheels conversion problem
I recently purchased 4 avus 17 '00 s4 wheels for my 99 Audi A6 quattro wagon and they ride like crap, it almost feels like something is rubbing but they seem not to rub but they are very loud. Do i need spacers and different lugs...?? I am out of answers please help

What size tires are on those wheels? That wheels should be a plug-n-play for the C5 (I ran those myself for winter setup). I had 235-45-17 tires on mine.
You should NOT need spacers. I'd guess oversized tires, or bad tires.

they are 225 45 17, bridgestone potenza, I'll be honest i purchased them used, the rears are turanzas. They tires do seem to be very noisy and rough on the front anyways. do you think buying NEW tires in the same size will work???

You need to do some diagnosis. Its easy to look for rubbing, at least stead state riding. And the thought of lugs hitting somethign is truly scary. That i would expect you would know darned fast.
Old tires can be very noisy. That may be part of it. What size are they? brand? tread condition? Cupped? feathered? Age?
Are you familiar with the ride of lower-profile tires?
The mind boggles with the variables that you have nto told us.

I think it is the condition of the used tires I bought, i will try and buy new tires, i looked for rubbing but I coldn't see anything. I'll prob grab some new Nexens or Kuhmo's.
Steering rack is leaking too, which i hear is a common problem. My mechanic told me his cost on a remaned one is around $800 and the labor is around $500. I understand the labor becasue it looks like a bitch to get to but 800 for the part, come on, thats high. I did see some on the internet for ALOT cheaper, is that a bad idea????
