window switch

does anybody know how i can replace the master window switch on a 98 a6

Just replaced the one in my '01 2.7T and it cost $35 and change...

...for the new one from Clair Parts. It really is a 5-10 minute job to remove the old and put in the new one. Let me know if you need detailed help...

Can you give me a detailed expalnation on how to do it, any help would be greatly appreciated. For kjb99, how does it just pop out?

Small hole

small hole down the arm rest, insert a screwdriver and push a plastic clip, this will release the switch.

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/21603/window_switch_002a.jpg"></center><p>It took me a while to figure out what to do with the screwdriver once I got it in the hole. Should I twist it? Did I need to pry something? I finally realized I needed to just push it straight in. If you look at this admittedly blurry picture, the clip on the front of the switch module is hinged at the bottom. The tip of the screwdriver needs to catch in the little 'pocket' at the top which will press the clip in. If you get the scredriver in the right place and just keep pressing it straight in (maybe a pressing the tip back a little), the front of the whole thing will lift out.

Also, the new switch does not include the trim piece. I used a bunch of old trade show badges and similar 'fake credit cards' to spread the the trim sides off the little clips on the switch module so I wouldn't break anything. Eventually, they just popped apart.
