2005 A6 "Left Dipped Headlight" What does this mean?
I was driving home the other night and suddenly my driver side xenon headlight went out and the display read "Left Dipped Headlight." I tried turning the headlights on and off numerous times but it will not come back on. What is the cause? Is the bulb simply burnt out or is it something else?
Does anyone have the service manual steps for removing/replacing the headlight bulbs?
Thanks in advance.

Pulled out the lightbulb today and it turns out it was cracked in half. Simple enough, will order a replacement. Surprising that it actually cracked when driving on a flat stretch of highway. Is this what typically happens when a HID bulb dies?

ha d the same thing with my Xenon bulb. It was cracked too. But luck enough, not having to change the electrical discharge control unit (some people do). Xenon bulbs are expensive (from the dealer), but I bought two Chinese made (they ARE the same) for 30 bucks a pop and changed both, since the light from the older, remaining bulb was slightly different...

Changing the bulbs is very simple. Driver side, remove the one bolt holding the canister in place behind the headlight assembly and bend out of the way. Remove access door and replace lights.
Passenger side, remove air filter cover and remove access door to replace lights.
