Default 2009 A6 oil consumption

2009 A6 with 85,000miles gets 1000 miles per quart of Mobil 1 0W40 (VW 205 approval. Is this normal?

This is a 3.0 T and the Audi shop says it might be a membrane under the supercharger that needs replacement... small part but big cost ($2000) to replace it due to removing a lot of parts... car runs fine, but I don't want to screw it up by continuing to use oil at this level. Recommendations?

Let's see if anyone else pops in and may be able to share a similar experience.

That's a lot of oil to be burning.

I have the same car with the same issue. purchased in January with 78,000. I'm up to a quart every 600 miles. no leaks on the garage floor, no blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. Still have good pressure which you can check by loosening the oil cap while it's running and see if there is pressure pulling the cap back down. Anyway, I"m living with it now as oil is cheaper than a mechanic tearing into the car to locate something that may or may not be the cause. I'd feel bad dumping this car on some unexpecting person, but someone did just that to me.

I ended up biting the bullet for $2000 (mostly labor) and the shop confirmed the PCV was shot. They put in a new pressure control unit, and also changed the supercharger belt & serpentine belt. Now I wait to monitor the oil consumption to see if this solves it...... The car is a great drive and I hate to get rid of it until at least 100,000 miles on the clock.
