Default coolant

What is the recommended coolant? Or any will do? Mine is slightly below the min line and I'm surprised no signal went off.

I used the OEM VW/Audi G12++ from ECS tuning. Seems like I need to top off every 8 months or so.

does the color matter? Mine is Pink and you can see that the G12 comes in different colors, plus plus is purple.

Pentosin "Pentofrost SF" (SF = silicone free) pink coolant is the OEM coolant. You can buy this locally from a foreign parts shop or on–line.

There is no leak - I have checked this. Over time, a small amount of coolant will always evaporate. I have experienced this in all my vehicles, the amount of which will vary depending on how well "sealed" the cooling system is, and whether or not there is an overflow tank. This has been confirmed by others. But of course, there will be some who disagree because it is supposedly a closed system, and will state they don't experience this. I just like to have mine up exactly at the "full" mark.

I think it should be closed system and all vapor should get back into the system. So you should not loose coolant this fast. In my old car coolant leaked from the heating pipes in the plenum chamber and was mixing with A/C condensation before dripping on the ground. So it took me a year or so to figure this out.

Quick Reply: coolant
