Default How to disable mirror fold-in motor?

Hi all,

Does anyone have a clever way to disable the mirror fold-in motor, without also disabling mirror adjustments and heating?

It appears that the position sensor is faulty, resulting in the mirror to occasionally to fold _forwards_ when the car engine is started. Wors case I'll have to remove the corresponding fuse, but that seems a bit of an overkill.

Cheers,

Pal

For my car, I just have the mirror selector NOT on the Folding Mirror icon. I have my **** on the Right Side mirror (this allows the mirror to dip when the car is put into reverse). Winter I turn it to the heated selection for a few mins, then back to Right Side selection.

The incorrect fold-forward happens irrespective of the position of the selector, and recently even both sides at the same time. I never use the fold-in function because every time I turn it back to normal, the mirrors fail to stop at the correct position, and end up all the way forwards. If I am able to manually stop the mirror in the right position, the motor normally continues to run until the mechanism clicks in place.

Have you opened up the mirror and had a look? Something must tell the mirror motor to stop at certain positions. Physical limit switches or a magnetic Hall effect sensor type setup?

OP,
I have 2 C6 A6's, one pre, one post facelift. Mirror folding was never automatic, but always a function of the mirror position switch. It sounds like either the previous owner installed a module in the door to make this automatic (they sell them on aliexpress), or the mirror switch in the door is defective. Are you able to post an autoscan of the vehicle coding and any fault codes?

-Cheers!
